International Honeymoon Tours

Italy-12 Days (Rome, Florence, Tuscany & Venice)

Day 1 : Upon arrival in Rome you will be met and transferred to your hotel, the Grand Hotel Vittorio Veneto to stay for the next 2 nights in a Superior Room. The Grand Hotel Via Veneto opened in 2009. It has since been awarded the ‘Five Star Diamond Award’. Set in a registered 19th century building, the hotel has a vast roof garden, with a charming and picturesque view over Porta Pinciana Roman wall ruins, the Gardens of Villa Borghese, and the Roman landscape.

Painstakingly refurbished, the Grand Hotel features contemporary furniture inspired by the early 20th century by craftsmen from Cantù; unique crystal chandeliers by glass-masters from Murano; high quality Carrara marble in the bathrooms and luxurious fabrics on the bedroom walls. The lobby is covered by a ceiling with translucent crystal laying on crystal beams for natural light in the heart of the Hotel. An admirable and unique art collection hang on the walls of the lobby - original paintings by famous painters (Baj, Burri, Carrà, Dalì, de Chirico, Guttuso, Mirò, Rotella e Picasso). The hotel boasts a splendid seafood restaurant, the ‘Magnolia’, a wine bar, the ‘Time’ and the roof garden, ‘Sky Bar & Grill’ offering both typical Roman cuisine and international specialties.

Day 2 : After breakfast, take a small group tour of Ancient Rome. Explore the ancient Roman city center while you learn the incredible history behind the monuments and temples. There is a lot to learn, see and experience, such as the Roman Forum, full of ruins from the time of the Roman Senate and emperors, leaving behind traces of the "glory days" of the Roman Empire. Hear the stories of the emperors and their palaces, the Vestal Virgins, the Roman Senators, Julius Caesar, the Gladiators, and so much more!

The tour covers all of what is considered to be the "Foro Romano", or Roman Forum, as well as the Colosseum. The two hour tour includes: A complete walk through the Roman Forum, stopping at the House of the Vestal Virgins, the Arch of Septimus Severus, the Temple of Julius Caesar, the Temple of Antonius Pius and Faustina, the ancient Via Sacra, and more. We then move over to the Colosseum with a full commentary both outside and inside, as well as a look at the nearby Arch of Constantine.

Day 3 : Enjoy a morning at leisure to explore Rome’s piazzas and gardens. This afternoon take a small group tour of the Vatican. Aside from being the center of Catholicism and the home of the Pope, the Vatican also houses one of the largest privately owned art collections in the world. This tour covers its highlights: the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Square. Go inside the the walls of the Vatican, a 44 hectare independent country within the city of Rome. Hear about the lives of the artists while surrounded by the works that inspired them. Discover the history of the church in relation to politics, power, paganism and see some of the most beautiful architecture and art ever created.

Day 4 : This morning after breakfast, you will have a private transfer to the station to catch the train to Chiusi. Here you will be met and driven for 20 minutes to your hotel in the heart of Tuscany through fields of sunflowers and tiny stone villages atop rolling hills that go on forever. Your hotel is the Villa Cicolina, and it is the magical setting of Val d’Orcia. Until the end of the 19th century Villa Cicolina was the country residence of a noble family of Montepulciano. It was built in the late sixteenth century as the wooden capitals and doorposts show. In 2000 it was purchased by Andrea e Angela, two doctors and travel lovers, who decided to transform it into a small castello.

Spend 2 nights in a Classic Room, housed in the attic, where the soft colors, natural textiles and wooden staves make for a relaxing ambience. A rich breakfast buffet, with cheese and salami from Tuscany, seasonal fruit and cakes will be offered to you each morning.

Just one mile up the hill is the historic settlement of Montepulciano, known for its excellent red wines. Wander around the town and enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants, check out the shops and try some wine tasting.

Day 5 : This morning you will be met by your driver and guide to spend a day exploring the beautiful Val d’Orcia area of southern Tuscany. There’s something about the combination of hills profuse with wildflowers and striking vistas over deep, farmed valleys that cannot disappoint. In the spring, the scent of yellow ginestra perfumes the air. As one drives an arc around deepening valleys, neat fields below line up in a quilt of patches in shades of yellow and pale sage. When clouds pass they shadow the valleys, bringing sky and earth just a little bit closer together.

Close by is the town of Pienza - a rare example of Renaissance town design. Often described as the "ideal city" or the "utopian city", it represents one of the best planned of Renaissance towns, where a model of ideal living and government was attempted, based on the concept of a town able to satisfy the needs of a peaceful and hardworking populace. It represented the so-called utopia of the "civitas" cherished by utopian thinkers for centuries. Pienza's location in the centre of the Val d'Orcia, a wonderful and untouched valley, helps the town to embody the balanced relationship between Man and Nature.

San Quirico d’Orcia, a little further down the road is a charming Etruscan town and a large part of the antique town walls still stand along with 14 small towers, although some of them are incorporated into other buildings. You can walk around craft boutiques and taste wine grown in the surrounding valley. There are some good Tuscan restaurants for lunch, we recommend sitting in the garden to enjoy the sunny Spring weather.

Day 6 : This morning you will enjoy a full day private tour of Chianti, your first stop is by the Badia a Passignano winery. Here, the Antinori Family owns property producing some of the greatest wines like Tignanello. If it is not too early, you may wish to try some of the Antinoris best wines. From here you head to Montefioralle, one of the best kept medieval villages in Italy, where Amerigo Vespucci’s Family had their home. After that jewel you will stop at Greve, the Capital of Chianti, and explore the 16th century square, including a visit to the Falorni Butcher shop, with all different varieties of hams. In the 13th century cellars you can see aging pecorino cheeses, as well the traditional old shops.

In the afternoon, head out to a wine farm, here, after a private visit of cellars and the property, you will take a wine, balsamic vinegar, oil, and vinsanto tasting tour. You may also wish to break the day with a great home-cooked lunch, prepared by the Mamma in the kitchen and served in their rustic Restaurant. Palazzo Vecchietti is one of the many buildings that testifies to the importance of Florence in the cultural and artistic history of Italy. Constructed at the beginning of the XVth century, the palace belonged to one of the most influential families of the city, the Vecchietti family, named in the 15th verse of “Paradiso” by Dante. But the “energy” that makes this building so fascinating can be attributed to Giambologna who was commissioned by Bernardo Vecchietti in 1578.

Imagine the divine pleasure, to start the day in the bright Sala Vespucci. The natural sunlight lights up this majestic room, enhanced by big windows and dominated by a skylight. Here you will find a relaxing atmosphere, that will make you feel at home, whilst being looked after and indulged.
